Abstract

Agent-based modeling is a form of mathematical modeling that has seen increased use among epidemiologists and other health professionals to estimate population-level health outcomes. Here we will discuss one such approach where our investigators aim to estimate the success of an HIV prevention campaign in Miami, FL. We will focus on the methods chosen to build, calibrate, and validate the agent-based model. We will also look critically at why certain model structures were chosen for this application.
